LIEU: WHILE DEMOCRATS PASS AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR AMERICANS, REPUBLICANS CONTINUE TO DENY INSURRECTION

DPCC Co-Chair Ted Lieu Appeared on MSNBC

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Ted Lieu (CA-33), Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), appeared on The Beat with Ari Melber on MSNBC Tuesday. Lieu spoke about how the American Rescue Plan is delivering for the American people with shots in arms, money in pockets, kids in schools and people in jobs. Meanwhile, Lieu said, radical right Republicans who voted against the American Rescue Plan continue to deny the Jan 6th insurrection, six months later.

"Six months ago their forever-impeached President incited an insurrection. 140 police officers were injured – some severely. Multiple people lost their lives, and there was significant property damage. What we have now is a Select Committee that's going to investigate what led up to January 6th, what occurred on January 6th, and the consequences of January 6th so that this never happens again," said Lieu. "There is one way to reduce further political violence, and that is if Republicans would simply say one truthful sentence: β€˜The election was not stolen.'"

Lieu also spoke about Republican hypocrisy on the American Rescue Plan, "It's sheer hypocrisy by the radical right. At the same time, I know that Leader McConnell and Republicans did give people a lot of money – it's just that those folks were corporate folks and the one percent of our Nation. So, it's not as if Republicans didn't do the same thing, they just chose to give it to the top 1% of our country. Democrats are benefitting the ninety-nine percent. The American Rescue Plan has been effective. We got shots into arms, kids back in schools, people into jobs, and cash into pockets. The plan is working and at the end of the day Americans will see that their life is better now than under Donald Trump and Republican control."
