NEGUSE: REPUBLICANS NEED TO PUT COUNTRY OVER PARTY AND PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY

DPCC Co-Chair Joe Neguse Appeared on CNN

(Washington, DC) Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02), Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), appeared on Don Lemon Tonight on CNN Thursday evening ahead of Republicans in the U.S. Senate voting on Friday to block an independent, bipartisan, 9/11-style commission from examining and reporting on the facts, causes and security relating to the terrorist mob attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. Neguse made clear that the violent attack on January 6th – during which lives were lost and over a hundred police officers were injured – was an assault on our Democracy that cannot be ignored.

“I, like so many Americans, am aghast at the way Senate Republicans and the majority of House Republicans have handled this particular issue. As you know, January 6th was one of the darkest days in our country’s history. The temple of Democracy was attacked by insurrectionists, multiple people died, over 140 members of law enforcement were physically harmed, including lives lost – as you mentioned, the life of Officer Sicknick. To think that the Senate Republicans would respond by ignoring the truth of what happened that day and reject an attempt to create a non-partisan, independent Commission to ultimately investigate the events of January 6th it’s beyond frustrating,” said Neguse
