NEGUSE: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT AMERICANS FROM GUN VIOLENCE

DPCC Co-Chair Joe Neguse Called for Action on CBS This Morning Following the Mass Shooting in Boulder, Colorado

(Washington, DC) Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02), Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), called for action to protect Americans from gun violence on CBS This Morning following the King Soopers shooting in Boulder, Colorado, where 10 people, including a police, officer were murdered. Congressman Neguse, who lives in Boulder, vowed to continue fighting for commonsense gun safety measures in Congress and expressed his heartbreak and condolences for the victims, survivors, and the entire Boulder community.

“Colorado has been no stranger to gun violence. I grew up in Highlands Ranch – 10 minutes from my high school the Columbine shooting unfolded when I was 14. Two years ago my niece was a kindergartener at the STEM shooting in Highlands Ranch where she was locked down – as a kindergartener. Like many Americans I feel a great deal of anger and frustration right now. I think the time for inaction is over. It does not have to be this way. There are commonsense gun reform legislation proposals that have been debated in the Congress far too long. Enough is enough, it’s time for us to take action. I’m certainly going to be pushing with my colleagues in Congress to make that happen. As Congress dithers on taking meaningful steps Americans are dying every day – Coloradans are dying every day – before our eyes. At some point we have to be prepared to say enough is enough, and I’m hopeful that now is that time,” said Neguse.
