NEGUSE: BUILD BACK BETTER BUDGET BILL MEETS THE MOMENT WITH TRANSFORMATIONAL MEASURES FOR COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE

DPCC Co-Chair Joe Neguse Appeared on MSNBC

(Washington, DC) Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02), Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), appeared on Deadline: White House MSNBC Monday to discuss how the Build Back Better Budget bill meets the moment by taking pivotal steps to combat climate change.

“The IPCC report is really a red alert for humanity in terms of really motivating us to do everything that we can on a very short runway to avoid the more catastrophic consequences of climate change. Ultimately, that means we have to meet the moment. The $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill as has been currently outlined and is literally being marked up as we speak by the committees of jurisdiction in the House, I believe meets the moment. It includes a clean energy standard at the federal level for the first time in our Nation’s history. It would include a conservation climate corp, a program that emulates the 1930s era program – Something I’ve worked on for the better part of the last year and a half with Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon, a state that’s also experienced devastating wildfires.  It includes a herculean investment in electric vehicle infrastructure across our country. This would really go a long way in putting us on the path to moving the needle in the fight against climate change, ” said Neguse.
