DPCC Co-Chair Lieu: We Can Investigate and Legislate at the Same Time

September 20, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Ted Lieu, Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Campaign Committee, appeared on MSNBC Live with Hallie Jackson to discuss President Trump's obstruction of Congress and upcoming hearings of the House Judiciary Committee. Rep. Lieu rebutted Republican talking points about congressional oversight investigations and made it clear: it is Democrats who are fighting For the People to clean up corruption in Washington. Below are excerpts from the interview. Click here to watch the video.

"This is unprecedented obstruction of Congress and it's not just the Judiciary Committee. For example, we're trying to find out why is the Trump Administration suing to eliminate health care coverage for Americans with preexisting conditions, [and] they won't provide that information either, so it's across the board. And specifically for the Judiciary hearing, we wanted to get in [Rob] Porter, we wanted to get in [Rick] Dearborn, [and] they won't allow those folks to even come and show up before Congress; that is unprecedented, that's why we're litigating and we believe we're going to win in court."
