"Democrats have been clear about our agenda to deal with the economic anxiety confronting the American people. We're going to push for better jobs, better wages, and a better future, that will increase the pay of the American worker."

"We're fighting to lower the American people's cost in the areas of health care, child care, and education. We're going to make sure that we can provide the American people with the tools to succeed in the 21st-century economy. A lot of folks in the inner city and in the communities that I represent, all across rural America, suburban America, and Midwestern America are undergoing dislocation because of the switch from an industrial based economy to an economy anchored in technology. They are getting a raw deal and we need to provide them with a better deal."
