DPCC Co-Chair Dingell: The American People are Worried About the Price of Prescription Drugs
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC), appeared on Outnumbered Overtime with Harris Faulkner on FOX News to discuss the rising prices of prescription drugs. Congresswoman Dingell emphasized that Democrats will fulfill our Congressional oversight responsibilities while also focusing on the issues that matter most to working Americans: lowering health care costs, increasing pay by rebuilding America, and cleaning up corruption in Washington. "First of all, I haven't read the report. I think too many of us are commenting on other people's comments and not on the report itself. I'm flying back to Washington tonight because I will be doing the response this week for Democrats, and I plan on picking up my copy of the report, and that will my reading tonight. I want to read all 400 pages before I make a comment. I think we've got to be very careful with this ‘he said she said' stuff. We need the facts, and I'm going to read the report."
"I'm going to talk about what the people want. We are going to talk about the first 100 days. I've been home all week. You know what I'm hearing about? How the cost of inhalers has gone to $700 for some people and that co-pays -- think what being a parent is, and the co-pay on an inhaler is now at least $80."
"We've got to come together…. people across the country are worried about the cost of prescription drugs. When I think about a single mother that is working two jobs and is still at the poverty level and has got an inhaler for a child that is asthmatic that is $700, that's what our job is supposed to be. We can't have Russians intervening in our elections but we've got to do something about prescription drugs."
