WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman David Cicilline, Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy & Communications Committee (DPCC), appeared on MSNBC and CNN to discuss the Nunes memo – a set of misleading talking points drafted and released by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes on Friday in an attempt to discredit the FBI and undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. While the President and House Republicans continue to create confusion, chaos and crisis, Democrats remain committed to building A Better Deal for American working families that delivers better jobs, better wages and a better future. Below are excerpts from each interview and links to each video.

CNN The Lead: "I think there is no other way to say it then the Republicans on the Judiciary committee and the Republicans on Intelligence Committee who have been a part of this, have been a part of a very disappointing set of actions – that is intending to undermine an ongoing investigation. These are individuals we have been pleading with on the Judiciary Committee to give us a hearing on many of these important issues that we have an oversight responsibility for. Republicans are now assisting this White House, who has done everything they can, the President in particular, to stop the investigation and prevent the American people from getting the truth. We haven't heard anything from our Republican colleagues about the collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian, about the ongoing obstruction of justice. The American people see right through this, this is an ongoing effort to stop this investigation."

MSNBC Live with Katy Tur: "It's really important to remember that this is a part of a large effort by the Republicans in Congress and the White House to undermine this investigation, to set the stage for the firing of Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and Special Counsel Robert Mueller, to stop the investigation so that the American people never learn the truth. And we should understand that's what this is. This is about interfering with and ultimately stopping this very serious investigation, which is underway about collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians."

DPCC Co Chair Jeffries: President Trump is Undermining Our National Security

CNN News room: "The DOJ and the FBI both caution against releasing this because of its materials omissions and misleading nature omits important facts, critical facts. It's all designed to undermine the investigation. Republicans release it and at the same time they refuse to release the Democratic memorandum that actually was prepared by someone who read the underlining intelligence reports and actually refutes the Republican memo step by step. So, you can't help but to think that something is going on here. This isn't about transparency."
