Call for Bipartisan Tax Reform that Puts Hardworking American Families First

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, Co-Chair of the House Democratic Policy & Communications Committee (DPCC), and Kansas House Minority Leader Jim Ward joined Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) today to denounce the release of the Ryan-McConnell Billionaires-First tax cut plan. Leader Ward discussed the similarities between the failed 2012 Kansas tax cut experiment that led to depressed economic growth and slashing critical services in Kansas and the tax plan Washington Republicans released today. Bustos highlighted how Democrats are fighting to deliver A Better Deal for all Americans. Below are excerpts from the press conference and a link to the video.

"The Washington Republicans really believe that we need a massive tax break for the ultra-wealthy. A tax break that will be paid for by the people who are already struggling. Democrats are in favor of tax reform, but it must put working Americans first. The Ryan-McConnell Billionaires tax plan does nothing to stop the outsourcing of good-paying jobs, which is something we in the Midwest can relate to. Washington Republicans' game plan means the middle-class is paying more while getting less. They will bring the failed Kansas experiment to a national level, and we can't let them do that."
